War medals to be presented to N.S. family 88 years after soldier went missing

HALIFAX — For nearly six decades, Albert Layton of Berwick, N.S., had only ever seen one photograph of his grandfather, Frank Forsdike, and never knew much about the soldier except that he’d gone missing during the First World War.

But after years of unanswered questions, a chance visit to a website in November led Layton, 59, to a tangible piece of his grandfather’s history: three unclaimed war medals, which will be formally presented to Layton’s mother Saturday. for more click here
