What a way to remember our VC heroes: Across Britain, the graves of our bravest soldiers are crumbling and neglected

At first glance, Highlands Road Cemetery in Southsea, Hampshire, looks like any other urban graveyard. Somewhat tatty, cracked paths meander through headstones and burial plots half overgrown with grass and ivy.

Dog walkers stoop down with plastic bags over their hands, and, inevitably, a drunkard sits on a bench swigging from a can of strong lager. for more click here
