Mysterious ring presented to descendants

PORTSMOUTH — The woman who found a mysterious, inscribed 18-karat-gold ring on a Kittery, Maine, beach last month handed it over to a descendant of its original owner at the Herald’s offices Thursday.

The hand-off ended an extensive search for the rightful heir to the treasure that piqued the curiosity of genealogy enthusiasts from around the country. Carrie Arsenault of Berwick, Maine, gave the ring to Jean Marlow, of East Bend, N.C., at the Pease International Tradeport home of Seacoast Media Group and the Herald. for more click here
