Middlesex Area, England Directory, 1851

This database contains the 1851 directory of the Middlesex County area in England. The localities included in this directory are Hackney, Clapton, Homerton, Dalston, Kingsland, De Beauvoir Town, Shacklewell, and Stoke Newington. Most of these localities are hamlets in the parish of Hackney. The directory is comprised of two portions — a street directory and an alphabetical directory listing the names of the heads of households, along with their addresses and occasionally their occupations.

City directories are primarily useful for locating people in a particular place and time. They can tell you generally where an ancestor lived and give an exact location for census years. They are also useful for linkage with sources other than censuses.for more click here
