Genealogy resource: Military records

Just about every genealogist can claim at least one ancestor who has served in the military. Military records can provide information not only about your veteran ancestor but may also information about his/her family. My maternal great-great-grandfather, William Andrew Morgan, served in the Civil War. I sent off for his records and they are really quite interesting. It explained how he was injured during service and a number of times, mentions members of his family. It has also helped me find the various places he was living when he submitted for pension increase requests. for more click here
