THE Coatbridge Irish Genealogy Project (CIGP) is opening its doors to family history enthusiasts in Monklands as a platform to assist researchers wishing to trace their Irish forebears.

Coatbridge has a uniquely strong connection with Ireland, dating back to the emergence of the town as a major producer of coal and iron in the mid 19th century, when many Irishmen and women descended upon the area in search of work. for more click here
