Unmarked grave mystery solved

ROCHELLE — More than 40 descendents from all over the nation made their way to the ‘Hub City’ today for a 3 p.m. grave marker dedication ceremony at St. Patrick Cemetery for James and Mary (O’Donnell) Kirby, early farming settlers of the Ogle-Lee area. Four years of genealogical research into her Kirby family tree unearthed enough clues for Margaret Allen Arnold, of Madison, Wis., to convince the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Rochelle, that the two unmarked graves in the church’s cemetery belonged to the Kirby couple. for more click here
