Who was this guy Jimmy Douglas – or to be precise Sir James Douglas — who keeps popping up as a stern-faced old guy in historic records? We know him well from 1842 on but little of him before that, although sometimes loquacious historian Hubert Howe Bancroft does provide some romanticized glimpses of Douglas as a teenager. for more click here
