Hopes of medal loan to war memorial will follow VC sale

THE last Victoria Cross awarded to an Australian in World War I will be auctioned next month.

Awarded to Lieutenant George Ingram for bravery and heroism during a battle at Montbrehain, France, the medal will be sold at Sotheby’s on May 27 and could fetch up to $600,000. The Age believes the medal is being sold by an elderly member of Ingram’s family who is in poor health. for more click here
