Chief honors marshal killed in 1903

CHERRYVALE – It was only four days after Christmas in Cherryvale in the year 1903 when Marshal William Jones was shot by Dan Hughes with a shotgun as he tried to serve Hughes with a warrant.

Shortly after taking his position as Cherryvale chief of police in September this year, Matt Dennis heard the tales of the marshal, who died the day after receiving the gunshot wound to his head and left a widow, Mollie (Mullens) Jones, and three children. for more click here
