It’s time to promote and protect our tartan

IT’S time to do something for tartan. That was the conclusion of a recent study into the economic impact of tartan on the Scottish economy. Commissioned by Scottish Enterprise, the study found that tartan, far from being a kitsch, outdated symbol of Scotland’s past, is actually of huge importance to Scottish industry.

Something like 10,000 jobs depend directly or indirectly on the industry, and it’s worth an estimated £350 million a year to the economy. But it’s not without its problems. for more click here
