A Reminder Of N.Y.’s Place In History

It was July 9, 1776. It had taken four days for a copy of the Declaration of Independence to reach New York from Philadelphia. One of the signers of the Declaration, John Hancock, had forwarded it to George Washington with a note saying in part: ”The Congress have judged it necessary to dissolve the connection between Great Britain and the American colonies and to declare them free and independent states.” for more click here
