Mormons begin project to put records online

Last week’s “Roots & Branches” column talked about some of the exciting changes that are happening in the online world of genealogy.
One of those shifts came from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as the Mormon church.

The Mormons announced that they will aid other organizations in placing their records online through its FamilySearch organization and will provide free services to archives and other records custodians who wish to digitize, index, publish and preserve their collections — as long as access to those records ends up being free. for more click here
