The use of Newspaper Cuttings

One important souce of Genealogical and Historic information that is often overlooked is the use of Newspaper cuttings.

Newspapers have existed in Scotland from the middle of the 17th century and they don’t only record the important events of the day, important Historic events, obituaries and lists of those killed in wars.but from the begining of photography they have increasely used line drawings and photographs. However it is from the obituaries and photographs that make them an important source for the Genealogist and family historian.
