The British Slave Trade: A chronology

The involvement of the British in the slave trade lasted from about the end of the 14th century until 1807, when the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act became law. Slavery itself was not outlawed within Britain and its empire until 1834. It is now recognised that much of the industrial growth and fortunes achieved by the upper and new middle classes in Britain were founded on the kidnap, slavery and deaths of millions of Africans. for more click here
