Copyright sets boundaries on history

A project to put historical election data online has run into a problem familiar to supporters of Technology Guardian’s Free Our Data campaign: Ordnance Survey’s copyright.
Earlier this month, the Great Britain Historical Geographical Information System Project (, based at University of Portsmouth, was awarded £398,700 to place online the general election data following the First Reform Act of 1832, allowing the public to find in which constituencies a property has been located. for more click here
