1945: A Bertellotti Christmas in Scotland

Two wee lassies cuddle together in their double bed in the alcove. One has black curls that smell of Sunsilk shampoo, large brown, Italian eyes and olive skin. The other is smaller; she’s only 4. She has pale, white skin, the eyes of her Scottish mother and thin, wild, brown hair.

The night is crisp, as most Christmas Eves are. The girls imagine Father Christmas in a long, ruby red coat as he visits each flat in the tenement. They can hear the tiny feet of the reindeer as they pace three stories up while Father Christmas does his magic. for more click here
