The history of Taplow Court

AFTER remodelling Taplow Court, the 5th Earl of Orkney Thomas John Hamilton sold the property to his neighbour Charles Pascoe Grenfell in 1852.

Charles had lived nearby at Taplow House since the 1790s. The Grenfells were originally from Cornwall and had made their money in copper mining. Charles embarked on yet another extensive remodelling of the house and he enlisted a prolific Scottish architect William Burn to give the house its Victorian-Jacobean appearance visible today. for more click here
