Digital Records

As yet, the virtual volumes are only accessible in-house, with the exception of the pre-1901 Wills and Testaments which can be accessed via the ScotlandsPeople “pay-to-view” website at .

To date, the Church of Scotland Kirk Session records up to and including 1901 have been digitised, as part of an ongoing agreement between The National Archives of Scotland and the Church of Scotland. This will eventually include Kirk Session records for all congregations referenced CH2, and some of those
referenced CH3. We are also digitising some of the Church of Scotland General Assembly papers, referenced CH1, although I cannot give precise references at present.

The ultimate aim of the Kirk Session digitisation project is to make the images available online via the ScotlandsPeople website, but this is expected to take some time to complete. There should be progress reports on these projects on our
own website, at , and possibly also on the ScotlandsPeople website.

We would have no objection to you putting a link to either of these websites from your own site, and there is certainly information on our own website that would help people to plan for their visit, and even to search our catalogues in advance.
