ALMOST four decades of Army history in Northern Ireland came to an emotional close at midnight.

Thursday, August 31, represented the official end of the Royal Irish Regiment’s and Ulster Defence Regiment’s 36-year
deployment in the Province. From today, the three Royal Irish home service battalions will no longer be routinely deployed alongside the police. for more click here
