Only a few ways to say about this site and your wonderful databases. It is literally an awesome research tool, for the new and old ones, alike. I just happened up it, while searching for any tidbit on my Andrew Logan b. abt 1705 in IRE immigrated to NY >> SC and died in SC in 1788, as did his wife Alida (Lydia) Pruyn. Thanks so much for making this available, easy to follow and read.

Sincerely,

Lynne Leflore

Wife got hooked on ancestry when communicating with J. Marshall Neathery with whom I share a great-great grandfather(Daniel Nethery) who was the 1st son of the 3rd wife of old Thomas Nethery Sr. Hope someday they can prove who old Thomas’s father was, as the story of James Nethery the Jacobite makes fascinating reading. I’m retired and live in Chattanooga TN (native of NC)

In answer to the last comment. Dr Stock could have trained in Edinburgh as many Scottish Doctors practised outside of Scotland for centuries. Contact the Royal College of Physicians. They should be able to help

I am looking for an Edward Stock MRCS (b Knowle Somerset 1818) who was practicing in Bristol in the 1850s onwards. I do not know where he trained, and the RCS in London could give me nothing on him, bar the record of his passing. Could he have trained in Scotland?

I am seeking information about the family of my great grandfather, John Carter, b. 1822, Coldingham, emigrated to Canada 1848 to Puslinch, Ontario. His father was Robert Carter and his mother was Janet Wishart. Robert Carter was killed in a railway accident at Cockburnspath in 1845 and Janet Wishart Carter and her (grown) children went to Canada.
