Vital Statistics Preliminary Return 2005

This return gives the Registrar General’s provisional figures for vital events registered during 2005. Provisional figures for the full year show a continued increase in births and a slight decline in the number of deaths with particular decreases in two of Scotland’s top three biggest causes of death – strokes and heart disease. There were 30,881 marriages – four per cent fewer than in 2004. Divorces also fell, by almost four per cent.for more click here
