Ancestry.ca Announces Birth, Marriage and Death Index and Offers It Online for Free

PROVO, UT, Feb. 14 /CNW/ – Ancestry.ca, the largest Canadian family history website, has added a comprehensive collection of England and Wales birth, marriage and death indexes from 1837 to 1983. For the first time ever, this record collection is absolutely free online with Ancestry.ca. Internet users will be able to access over 250 million names and start researching their English family history for free. These records are vital to Canadian family historians with English ancestry because of the rich genealogical
information that they provide.

The birth, marriage and death records are an important piece of the puzzle for family researchers as they begin their research. You may want to fill in more details than you hold already, or verify birth dates or locations. Members and non-members of Ancestry.ca can try as many different combinations and searches as are necessary to trace their ancestors without paying anything.
“We’ve worked around the clock to ensure we can provide this collection, as we appreciate how significant it is to trace important ancestors through these indexes. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced user, birth, marriage and death records are a necessity to family history that allow you to piece together your ancestors’ story. Ancestry has been known for providing high quality census indexes and images and we want to continue to provide the same quality and range of information in different collections available through one site,” said Josh Hanna, vice president of Ancestry’s European Operations.
“As a genealogist and family history enthusiast, I’m thrilled that people can go to one place, access these birth, marriage and death indexes for free and find their parents, grandparents or even themselves and see how simple it is to start tracing back,” Hanna added.
