Black Book of Taymouth, 1598-1648.
This volume outlines the genealogy of the Campbells of Glenorchy, who later became earls and marquesses of Breadalbane. It chronicles their acquisition of lands in the area around Loch Awe, Glenorchy and Loch Tay. It was commissioned by and dedicated to Sir Duncan Campbell of Glenorchy and written in the first half of the 17th century, mainly by William Bowie, tutor to his grandsons.
