England: Mixbury & Oxfordshire – Christening Records

This data set is an index to christening records from 1645-1876 from the Mixbury parish registers. Mixbury is a town located in Oxfordshire, England. Information contained in this data set includes the name of the child christened, the parents’ names, the date of the christening, and the names of the godparents (also called sponsors). Godparents were usually relatives or friends of the parents.

Parish records can be wonderful sources of genealogical information. They become increasingly valuable when civil vital records are either inaccessible or nonexistent as they provide the same vital information that is usually available in civil records. The records that are indexed here are available at the Family History Library (FHL) in Salt Lake City, Utah on microfilm # 993081.
