Family Research – English, Scottish and Irish Genealogy



The West Highland Museum was founded as an independent and self-financing body in 1922. Its brief is to collect and preserve material relating to the history of the West Highlands. The Museum’s principal holdings relate to the 1745 Jacobite Rising, including Cluny papers 1690 – 1786 and military records 1748 to the1830s. This material has been surveyed by the National Register of Archives Scotland (survey number NRAS0451) and the National Register of Archives (survey number NRA/13685). The Museum also holds archives from some local clubs, societies and businesses and a few local authority records.
