The Bristol Slave Trade Walk.

The city of Bristol played a major part in the transatlantic slave trade of the 17th and 18th centuries. In memory of the tens of thousands of slaves taken from West Africa to the Caribbean by Bristol ships, Bristol City Council Leisure Services has set up the Bristol Slave Trade Action Group (BSTG).

The group aims to raise awareness of Bristol’s slaving past and find ways of acknowledging Bristol’s part in the trade. With City Councillors’ agreement the BSTAG has planned a series of short, medium and long term initiatives to help Bristol come to terms with this aspect of its history
