Chadwyck-Healey’s British and Irish Biographies, 1840-1940, Parts I-III is a vast repository of biographical information encompassing the most exalted, the most obscure, and nearly everyone in between. The fully-indexed microfiche collection consists of reproductions of 138 original biographical dictionaries, Who’s Whos, clerical directories, War Lists and more.

The individual titles in the collection are not cataloged in IUCAT; a list is available below for browsing or searching. Enter keywords such as “shropshire” or “painters” to get an idea of what this collection contains.

To locate information on specific individuals, you will need to consult the index, which can be found in the Reference Room. The Reference Department will also accept requests for information about individuals.
