Wolvercote Cemetery Open Day

Wolvercote Cemetery is inviting the public to attend their open day, where people will have the opportunity to look up their family history.

On Sunday 19 September between 2.00pm and 5.00pm, Wolvercote Cemetery will be open to the public.

Records will be made available to members of the public who wish to take the opportunity to search their family history. Staff will be on site to assist people in the quest to retrieve information about their family origins.

Cemetery Manager and Registrar Hugh Dawson said: “This is the seventh year we have held the open day and it has been attended by many people from all around the world. It will allow people to talk with staff and enquire about their past in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.”

The day will also include organ recitals in the chapel where Mr Jonathan Keen will be pleased to perform music requests from the public.

Rev Hedley Feast and Father John Baggley will be available to give blessings on graves requested by family members.

Tea and coffee will be served throughout the afternoon and members of staff will be available to answer any questions.
