Select Bibliography of Bristol and the Slave Trade at Bristol Reference Library

(College Green, Bristol, BS1 5TL. Tel: 0117 903 7202. email: refandinfo@bristol-city.gov.uk)

This is a select and not a full list of titles held within the Central Library. Search the computer catalogue for additional titles. In addition there is an extensive collection of books about the slave trade generally, not specific to Bristol. Some of these can be found on the computer catalogue but many are only indexed in the card catalogues in the Reference Library.

An asterisk (*) indicates that the book is available in the Central Lending Library, but not in the Reference Library. Abbreviations are listed at the end of the bibliography, as are a few references to slave trade poetry.

There’s a website about Bristol and the transatlantic slave trade at www.discoveringbristol.org.uk
