Listed Buildings of Northern Ireland

Listed buildings are special, whether for architectural or historic reasons, or more usually a combination of both. Approximately 8500 are listed, buildings which is about 2% of all buildings in Northern Ireland.

Listed buildings make a very positive contribution to our environment. They represent the best of the past, a resource of enormous importance at present, and a legacy of inestimable potential for the future. The vast majority of these buildings and structures serve a useful function, mostly on a day and daily basis – whether as houses, schools, churches, shops, offices, factories, harbours, farm buildings, or bridges.
