The End of the Scottish Clans

It was on the field of Culloden on the 16th April 1746 that the Jacobite Clans were defeated by the government army under the Duke of Cumberland thus ending for all time the ending of the Clan system in Scotland and ushered in the Highland Clearances later in the century
